Senior Dogs at The Animal Foundation Fetch Grant from The Grey Muzzle Organization

$7,500 Grant from The Grey Muzzle Organization to Promote
More Adoptions for Senior Dogs

Las Vegas – Old dogs in Las Vegas have something to wag about this summer, as The Grey Muzzle Organization announces the recipients of its annual grants, and dogs at The Animal Foundation are among the winners. In fact, The Animal Foundation is one of only 66 animal welfare groups in 30 states who were chosen from more than 300 applicants to receive a grant to help local senior dogs.

“This grant will help us give senior dogs typically seven years and older the necessary attention and care they need so they’ll be ready to find and go to their forever homes,” said Daniel Neel, Chief Finance and Development Officer for The Animal Foundation. “Through this partnership with Grey Muzzle, we are aiming to increase adoptions of our senior dogs by at least 20% and shorten their length of stay in the shelter by two to three days. No one is more grateful or loving than an older dog, and we’re looking forward to helping more of our senior dogs get the second chance they all deserve.”

Over the past decade, the national nonprofit Grey Muzzle Organization has provided nearly $1.5 million in grants to support its vision of “a world where no old dog dies alone and afraid.”

“Thanks to the generosity of our donors, we’re delighted to help deserving organizations like The Animal Foundation make a difference in the lives of dogs and people in their communities,” Grey Muzzle’s Executive Director Lisa Lunghofer said. “Many senior dogs in the Las Vegas Valley are already enjoying their golden years in loving homes thanks to the wonderful work of The Animal Foundation.”

The Animal Foundation is the highest volume single-site animal shelter and pet adoption center in the nation and provides refuge for thousands of homeless animals throughout the Las Vegas Valley. Search for a new senior dog companion
