The Animal Foundation Receives $100,000 From PetSmart Charities® To Help Fund Campus Completion Project

Grant will support the construction of new Engelstad Family Adoption Center

Las Vegas –The Animal Foundation has received a grant for $100,000 from PetSmart Charities, the leading funder of animal welfare in North America, to support the construction of the shelter’s new Engelstad Family Adoption Center, which will provide a permanent facility with safe and comfortable adoption areas for cats and other small animals, as well as administration offices and community education facilities. Thanks to this generous grant, The Animal Foundation will be able to cover more of the construction, installation, equipment and supply costs related to the Mission: Possible 2020 campus completion project, which officially broke ground on October 26, 2017.

“It’s amazing what can happen when our partners come forward to support our efforts to care for all the lost, homeless, abandoned and often mistreated animals who come into our care,” said Daniel Neel, Chief Finance and Development Officer for The Animal Foundation. “I am deeply heartened by this generous grant from PetSmart Charities and am more confident than ever that our Mission: Possible 2020 initiative to save all healthy and treatable animals who come into our care is going to have a tremendous impact on our Las Vegas community.”

“This grant is about much more than a building,” said David Haworth, DVM, Ph.D., president of PetSmart Charities.  “It’s about the benefits that this new state-of-the-art facility, designed in concert with best practices in animal shelter care, and the programs associated with Mission: Possible 2020 will bring to all the animals The Animal Foundation serves.”

Operating as the Nevada’s largest open-admission animal shelter, The Animal Foundation provides refuge and healthcare for thousands of helpless animals annually. The Mission: Possible 2020 initiative to save all healthy and treatable animals who come into The Animal Foundation’s care by the end of 2020 was unveiled in 2015. Anticipated completion of the new campus is late 2019.

The Animal Foundation is open daily from 11 a.m. – 7 p.m. For more information and to view adoptable pets, please visit animalfoundation.com.
