The Animal Foundation Launches New Foster-to-Adopt Program to Help Adopters Find the Right Fit

New program aims to find more homes for
the shelter’s homeless animals

Las Vegas – The Animal Foundation is now offering a Foster-to-Adopt program that lets potential adopters house an animal temporarily — generally over a two-week period, to see if that animal is a good fit with family members and even other pets. The new program, available at both the shelter’s main campus at 655 North Mojave Road in Las Vegas and the PetSmart Everyday Adoption Center in Henderson, is designed to give potential adopters more time and experience with an animal before they make a lifetime commitment.

“If you’re thinking about adopting a shelter pet, but you’re not sure about finding the right match for you and your family, this is the perfect option for you,” said Christi Dineff, Assistant Director of Operations for The Animal Foundation. “Adopting a pet is a big commitment, so we want adopters to feel as comfortable as possible in their decision to bring one home permanently.”

Those interested in fostering to adopt a pet may visit either adoption location between 11am and 7pm daily to discuss the process with one of The Animal Foundation’s experienced adoption counselors. All potential adopters will be provided with an initial supply of pet food along with all required vaccines and medical care for the pet during the Foster-to-Adopt period in most cases. Potential adopters will be asked to provide other pet necessities such as collars, leashes, crates, food bowls and, most importantly, love and affection.
