Cox Charities Grants The Animal Foundation $11,000 to Help “Keep Every Person and Pet Together”

Program provides life-saving alternatives to those faced with surrendering a pet

Las Vegas – The Animal Foundation is vowing to “Keep Every Person and Pet Together”(KEPPT) with the help of an $11,000 grant provided by Cox Charities. The KEPPT program recognizes the heartbreak of giving up a pet due to circumstances outside the owner’s control and offers support to those in the Las Vegas Valley who have no other alternative than to surrender their companion. With the aid of Cox Charities’ contribution, the nonprofit program is able to provide financial assistance for animal counseling, medical care, food costs and much more to families and their pets.

“In the last year, The Animal Foundation accepted more than 4,000 surrenders caused by families falling on hard times,” said Daniel Neel, chief finance and development officer for The Animal Foundation. “By joining forces with Cox Charities, we can continue offering alternative services that help avoid the painful misfortune the entire family endures when surrendering a pet.”

Known as Nevada’s largest open-admission animal shelter, The Animal Foundation can make the difference between joy and despair for those who fear their only option is to give up their pets. This Cox Charities grant will help fund:

  • Managed Intake – Giving counseling and support regarding options and resources available through The Animal Foundation in order to keep the pet with their family
  • Community Resources – Pet owners in need are provided with a variety of assistance including pet food costs, medical care and housing alternatives
  • Lost Pet Reunion – Through outreach efforts, The Animal Foundation educates the community about how to successfully locate lost pets
  • Pets for Life – Shelter volunteers canvass areas that are most at risk for animal abandonment  and provide useful resources to keep pets out of shelters and in homes
  • Homeward Bound Fund – Provides financial assistance to owners who cannot afford ordinance driven reclamation fees

“At Cox Charities, our mission is to improve the quality of life for Southern Nevada families through grant allocations and community partnerships,” said Tamar Hoapili, Cox Charities program administrator. “Partnering with The Animal Foundation allows us to assist with keeping hundreds of families and their pets together through the good times and bad.”

The Animal Foundation is open daily from 11 a.m. – 7 p.m. For more information and to view adoptable pets, please visit animalfoundation.com.
