The Animal Foundation Waives Reclaim Fees for All Lost and Stray Animals From July 3 Through July 10
More pets are lost during the busy Fourth of July holiday period than any other time of the year Promotion aims to make it easier to reclaim your beloved pet
Las Vegas – From July 3 through July 10, The Animal Foundation will be waiving reclaim fees on all lost and stray animals that end up at the shelter during the busy Fourth of July holiday period. The waiver does not include confiscates, bites, or other situations as dictated by Animal Control. Last year during the period from July 1 to July 10, The Animal Foundation took in 672 lost and frightened animals, many of whom had escaped while seeking safety from loud firework displays. Only 19 percent of those animals were reclaimed by their owners.
“As you put the final touches on your celebration, please take time to consider your pets,” said Zoie Keast, Assistant Director of Operations at The Animal Foundation. “The increased anxiety and panic caused by fireworks or other loud noises may cause them to jump a fence or run away to find safety, so it’s important to leave your pet inside the comfort of your home. In the unfortunate event that your beloved pet becomes lost, we encourage you to visit our campus immediately and view our online pet database, which is updated hourly.”
Lost pets brought to the The Animal Foundation are legally required to be held for 72 hours. The waived fees during the holiday promotion, made possible through participation by the City of Las Vegas, the City of North Las Vegas and Clark County, include fees for the impound, boarding, rabies vaccination, spaying and neutering, and microchip, as set by the respective jurisdictions.
The Animal Foundation’s Lost and Found Department is located at 655 North Mojave in Las Vegas. It is open from 10am-7pm every day, including Independence Day, and is available by phone at 702-384-3333 x932 or email at lost@animalfoundation.com. To claim your lost animal at our shelter, you must bring proof of ownership (e.g. a photo of your pet, veterinary records, proof of rabies vaccine, or microchip number). Proof of citizenship is not required.
In addition to its reclaim promotion, The Animal Foundation announces a special 4th of July holiday foster promotion so that shelter pets don’t have to spend the holiday alone. Beginning July 1, the shelter is inviting interested foster families who aren’t traveling for the holiday to pick out a shelter pet to take home for a cozy, family-filled holiday vacation. The Animal Foundation will provide the necessary supplies as long as fosters commit to a full week of care for their holiday shelter pet. If foster families choose to adopt the pet they host or if they find someone who is interested, the shelter will waive the adoption fee.
As one of the largest volume single-site animal shelters in the nation, The Animal Foundation provides refuge for homeless animals throughout the Las Vegas valley. These latest promotions are just one of the many life-saving and life-changing efforts implemented as part of Mission: Possible 2020, the initiative to save all healthy and treatable animals who enter our care by 2020.
