The Animal Foundation Receives Grant from PetSmart Charities to Help Keep Pets and People Together
THE ANIMAL FOUNDATION RECEIVES $50,000 GRANT FROM PETSMART CHARITIES® TO HELP KEEP PETS AND PEOPLE TOGETHER
Grant Funds Assistance with Emergency Pet Deposits for Qualifying Individuals
LAS VEGAS– The Animal Foundation received a $50,000 grant from PetSmart Charities to help keep more pets in loving homes and out of shelters in Las Vegas.
With this grant, The Animal Foundation will help preserve the bond between pets and their people by offering assistance with emergency pet deposits for qualifying individuals. By covering the cost of pet deposits with funds issued directly to landlords, The Animal Foundation allows the bond to remain unbroken and pets to remain where they should be – in their homes with their families.
Many people consider pets family members and it can be challenging to find resources when facing life changes and issues such as homelessness, lack of pet-friendly housing, or fleeing domestic violence in search of a safe-haven. Pet parents in these and other at-risk situations often determine they have no options beyond surrendering their beloved pet to a local shelter.
“A house truly becomes a home the moment we welcome a pet,” said Ariadna Medecki, Community Outreach Program Manager. “We know the importance of the human animal bond, now more than ever, which is why it’s our mission to keep every person and pet together.”
“Aside from being considered family to many people, pets often provide considerable support during life challenges,” said Dani LaGiglia, community grants manager at PetSmart Charities. “We’re pleased to partner with The Animal Foundation in supporting pets and people in need in Southern Nevada, especially during the COVID-19 pandemic when housing assistance is critical for so many families who are struggling financially.”
