Twelve Days of Giving 2023
Dazzling the shelter dog wrote Santa a list of what she wanted for Christmas, and Saint Nick made all her wishes come true. Dazzling was recently adopted into a loving family, but we still have more than 200 other shelter pets still hoping to find families of their very own this holiday season.
This is where you come in -- now through December 21, stay tuned to see how we’re spreading joy to animals at the shelter. There will be plenty of ways for you to help us bring hope and happiness to our wonderful animals still waiting for their holiday dreams to come true.
Day One: Foster for the Holidays
Are you craving cozy cuddles this holiday season?
Give our shelter pets the very best gift of all: A home for the holidays, even if only for a few short weeks. By fostering a homeless animal, you can experience the joys of being a pet parent without the lifetime of responsibility.
The Animal Foundation will provide everything you need, including food, supplies, and support; you’ll just need to provide the love. Just a short time in home can help us learn so much about a pet’s personality, which can lead to a perfect match with an adopter.
If you’d like more information, we have you covered. Visit the button below to sign up and learn more about the program!
Day Two: Luna's Happy Tail
Sometimes during an adoption, the dog chooses their person. Luna was one of those dogs.
It was mid-2020, the pandemic was in full swing, and Harold was looking for a new pup with his wife. They found themselves at The Animal Foundation. Every dog they’ve ever owned has been a rescue, and this one wasn’t going to be any different.
When Luna saw Harold’s wife, she was instantly drawn to her. This mellow girl never looked back. She has been spoiled rotten ever since she was adopted into Harold’s loving family.
Luna loves to snuggle up on the couch while she’s rooting for the Golden Knights and will do just about anything for a little cheese.
“Any photo of this dog is hilarious. She is such a clown,” Harold says. “Luna’s just a big ball of fur that wants to be loved, just like the other dogs at The Animal Foundation.”
This story of love is made possible thanks to the extraordinary support we receive from our community. If you want to support our lifesaving mission, you can donate via the button below!

Day Five: Adoption Fees are Waived!
New national data shows there are 250,000 additional pets waiting in the shelter system this holiday season compared to last year.
There’s no better time to adopt, rather than shop, when it comes to getting a pet this holiday season.
Now through Sunday, December 17, adoption fees are waived for ALL dogs and cats at The Animal Foundation (regardless of size and age!)
We're proud to partner with the Bissell Pet Foundation and Cathy Bissell to offer these fee-waived adoptions.

Day Six: Christmas Makeovers
A little makeover can make a big difference for a shelter pet.
No one knows that better than Krystal, our rockstar groomer at The Animal Foundation. She has the magic touch, transforming the lives of pets who arrive at the shelter with matted and filthy fur.
Krystal loves helping our animals bring out their true potential, ultimately guiding them toward finding new families and experiencing happily-ever-afters.
Now, YOU can help more animals look good and feel good. We recently made Krystal her very own Amazon Wish List - as part of our 12 Days of Giving campaign. The list is filled with all of her favorite goodies to help with her incredible transformations.
Visit the button below to browse her list and donate today. We also accept donations in our Adoption building lobby Tuesday through Sunday, 11 to 7. Thank you!

We decorated the tree with ornaments that show what our cats and dogs are wishing for this holiday season. It’s all part of 12 Days of Giving at The Animal Foundation.

Day Nine: The Grinch takes over The Animal Foundation
Early in the morning, The Animal Foundation was alerted to an alarm going off inside our adoption building. Upon arrival, we discovered an exterior door had been forced open, and inside was an unexpected visitor.
Standing six feet tall, the intruder boasted a green complexion and wore a red fur-lined coat and hat. With a permanent scowl on his face, the perpetrator slithered and slunk his way down the halls, stealing presents and toys intended for the shelter animals.
Security camera footage captured the peculiar prowler sneaking around the shelter, looting, staring at animals, and napping in the lobby before we opened to the public. Later identified as the infamous "Grinch," the mischievous man was taken into custody.
Fortunately, the Grinch's small heart grew three sizes, and he willingly returned the stolen items. In an effort to make amends, he agreed to community service as a form of punishment for his holiday transgressions.
As part of his change of heart, the Grinch decided to fundraise to make the holidays warm and bright for our shelter animals! You can help support our homeless pets hoping for a better, brighter year in 2024
Day Ten: Help Our Kittens (and some puppies, too!)
So far this year, our kitten nursery has helped more than 1,100 kittens.
Our kitten nursery is where we provide care for our most vulnerable residents – and they aren’t always fluffy kittens! This holiday season, we also have a few neonatal puppies staying warm in an incubator. These adorable faces require frequent feedings, cleanings, and plenty of supplies.
If you’d like to support these itty bitty residents, we put together a wish list for the 10th day of our Twelve Days of Giving campaign.

Day Eleven: Spoil our Shelter Dogs!
Christmas is coming early for our shelter dogs!
For the 11th day of our 12 days of giving, we want to spoil our shelter dogs!
We need your help filling their stockings! Our shelter pups are asking for Pup-Peroni, Kongs, lick mats, and, of course, TOYS.
If you want to help, please see our doggie-themed wishlist below!
Day Twelve: Wrap Up
We’re still talking about The Grinch’s visit to our shelter, and finding a place for all our donations that he ended up returning after a change of heart, but 12 days of giving isn't over yet!
There’s still time to help us spoil our shelter cats, pamper our pups, and support our lifesaving mission! We had some fun this year with silly and inspiring campaigns, all aiming to make the animals who come to us more comfortable and happy while they wait for their forever homes.
If you would like to donate to one of our many wishlists for our shelter animals or can provide a monetary donation this holiday season, please click one of our donation links above!
