Critical Space Crisis
Las Vegas, we need your help!
Yesterday, we had more than 530 dogs on campus with only six open kennels. Last night we received 30 more dogs.
We officially have NO kennel space for large dogs.
This is an extra concern for this time of year because crowded shelters are the perfect breeding ground for highly contagious respiratory diseases. Getting as many dogs as possible out of the shelter is the only way we can prevent an outbreak.
If you’ve ever considered fostering or adopting a large dog, now is the time. We need to keep our population, especially of large dogs, at a manageable level to ensure the health and safety of animals in our care.
To expedite animals getting out of the shelter, all dogs will leave the shelter as fosters in the next few days. If you fall in love and decide to adopt, we'll waive the adoption fee and process the adoption remotely.

Here are some other ways you can help:
- REUNITE LOST PETS: If you find a healthy, friendly dog, try to locate their owner before bringing them to the shelter. Dogs are MUCH more likely to be reunited with their families if they stay in the neighborhood where they were found. Most lost pets at the shelter are never reclaimed.
- ID YOUR PET: 78% of the lost dogs we took in this year had NO collar, tag or microchip. Keep a collar and tag on your pet so they get home quickly if they’re ever lost. Make sure your pet’s microchip is up-to-date. We can’t get in touch with you if the information is incorrect! You can schedule an appointment to get a microchip in our low-cost clinic here: https://bit.ly/4eZKkqr.
- RECLAIM YOUR PET: If your lost pet is at The Animal Foundation, please come down to reclaim them ASAP. If you’re unable to afford reclaim fees, we are willing to work with you. Our goal is to reunite pets with their families whenever possible.
