Hi, my name is *RUFUS

Meet Rufus! Rufus is one of those dogs who just steals your heart. This sweet boy came to the shelter as a stray, and while we’re still getting to know all his quirks and preferences, one thing is already clear: he’s a total sweetheart. He’ll stand on his hind legs to offer you a hug — not in a jumpy or wild way, but like he truly just wants a little connection.

Out on walks, Rufus is a relatively calm and curious companion. He spent time soaking in the sights and sounds of the shelter grounds, even pausing to investigate the hose like it might be his next new toy. He actually enjoyed drinking from it! He’s shown zero reactivity to other dogs so far — including a timid pup we passed and the louder neighbors in his bungalow. Through it all, Rufus stayed cool and quiet, just wanting a little peace.

We haven’t heard much noise from him at all — no barking or vocalizing yet — but we’re still learning who Rufus is at heart. His chill demeanor and soulful eyes suggest he’s just waiting for a calm, loving place to call home.

He does appear to have some minor skin allergies, but they look manageable and could likely improve with a clean environment and possibly a better diet. This boy doesn’t ask for much — just a little kindness, a soft bed, and someone to return his hugs.

Being treated for a respiratory infection. Will need medication and isolation from other dogs through at least 6/18
