I recently went into foster, here's how I did!

'I walked by Kia's kennel and saw her laying on her bed, quiet and cuddling a teddy bear. Had to take her out! During our foster field trip to the park, I noticed Kia's overall demeanor is very relaxed, but because she hasn’t really run it out, she had a lot of walking and smelling to do. She was not dog reactive. After it became too hot to stay outside, we had a nice drive around the area where she thouroughly enjoyed the a/c and just look out the window.'

My Special Considerations

Kia is not adapting well to the shelter environment and exhibiting signs of fear and kennel distress. She is hard trembling and avoidant of staff members due to her fear. She allows staff to handle her but requires a slower approach and is trembling while being handled. Kia needs time to warm up to her person and to decompress from the stressful shelter environment. This animal would benefit from a quieter place to adjust and become more comfortable with social and environmental changes.

*This dog was diagnosed with an infectious respiratory disease and needs to be isolated from other dogs through 04/09/2025 while being treated. Additionally, she is noted to be an older friend with generalized skin masses and dental tartar. She would benefit from bloodwork, radiographs, and further work-up outside of the shelter environment.
