*SKYLARK

Hi, my name is *SKYLARK

Skylark is a fun-loving, affectionate, and goofy boy who’s ready to be your new best friend! This smart pup is incredibly food-motivated—he’ll sit on command every single time (especially if there’s a snack involved) and takes treats gently. His love for food makes him highly trainable, and he’s already improving his leash skills and learning new manners in training classes.

Skylark is a 'potty dog' at the shelter which means he waits to go outside to do his business and is likely housebroken.

On walks, Skylark enjoys greeting people and making new friends. He’s curious but non-reactive to other dogs through barriers, and he loves to chase tennis balls, pouncing on them with joyful enthusiasm. He’s an affectionate guy who enjoys pets and cuddles, but he can be a little unsure about handling around his neck. With time, patience, and positive reinforcement, he’ll continue to grow more comfortable.

While Skylark is a happy, playful dog outside, shelter life has been tough on him. He’s not adjusting well to kennel life and can get anxious, often pawing at the door, eager for time outside. However, once he’s out, he relaxes, enjoys his walks, and settles down for the rest of the day. He thrives with physical and mental stimulation and will do best in a home that can provide structure, enrichment, and plenty of love.

Skylark has been waiting far too long for his forever family, but he’s ready to blossom in the right home. If you’re looking for a fun, trainable, and affectionate companion, Skylark is more than ready to meet you!

My Special Considerations

*Skylark is not adapting well to being in a kennel at the shelter and is displaying signs of kennel distress and anxiety. This dog is standing on his kennel door, heavy panting, and smearing his saliva on the glass. He is currently in class for his manners. He knows sit and is learning how to walk properly on the leash. This animal would benefit from a calmer environment and training to be able to cope with changing environments and separation.
