My Special Considerations

Nala is not adapting well to the shelter environment and exhibiting signs of fear and kennel distress. Nala is fearful in her kennel, she will hard bark but create space with fully dilated pupils. Nala was able to be leashed and taken out, she warmed up with a behavior team member but was wary of other staff. She is treat motivated and seems to warm up to people with them. However, her in kennel behavior is concerning and not appropriate for the adoption floor due to safety. This animal would benefit from a quieter place to adjust and become more comfortable with social and environmental changes.

UPDATE: This animal has shown improvement and is responding to interventions provided. She still does her barking when you approach the kennel, but quickly recovers and becomes loose bodied. Staff is able to leash and take out. She is very treat motivated and walks decently well on the leash. The commitment date has been removed for now however this animal would still benefit from foster, rescue, or adoption.
