Hi, my name is *CANDY APPLE
Candy Apple will be the apple of your eye! She's scared in her kennel and a little shy when meeting new people, but she warms up pretty quickly and loves to come in for pets and attention once she trusts you.
She's 4 years young and will make the perfect sidekick on your adventures. She's always got one ear open to listen when you need someone to talk to, too.
When it's time to go back to her kennel after her walks, Candy Apple likes to lay down and spread out in the grass, looking for just a little more time in the fresh air. Although she has shown defensiveness in playgroups when other dogs invade her space, with calm canine companions and gradual introductions, she has the potential to thrive. Your new best friend is waiting and available for foster or adoption!
I'm currently relaxing in foster care, and loving it!! Here's what my foster family has said about my time in foster care!
"Candy Apple has been with us for about 3 months. They say it takes about 3 months for a shelter dog to settle in so I think we have a good idea of Candy’s temperament.
She has been my shadow, she follows me almost everywhere except on the rare occasion when she seems to want alone time and will settle down on the couch.
She likes to snuggle and lay nearby. She used to never jump up on the furniture, but now has a fondness for naps on the couch. She also likes to stand up for more pets and loves belly rubs.
Candy enjoys walks and does better with daily exercise. She’s also a fan of enrichment exercises like when I hide treats for her to find. She also loves a good chew toy. When she has these opportunities, she’s a lot calmer and less stressed.
Candy does have some separation anxiety, but has come a long way. With the bribe of a good treat, Candy will settle in to her crate. Sometimes she needs a little medication to calm her, but she’s needing less of it.
She can get spicy around other dogs and be reactive when she comes across them on walks. She does fine with the resident dog, though she doesn’t exactly play with him, they’ve grown fond of walking and napping next to one another.
Candy already knows sit, down, shake, leave it, come, takes treats gently, and is easy to leash for walks. Candy will need someone with patience and understanding. She takes a bit of time to fully settle in and show her whole self, but she is a delight when she does.
