Lost & Found Pets

Man and dog

If your pet is lost, our Las Vegas animal shelter is the most likely place for your pet to be found. Visit The Animal Foundation IMMEDIATELY!

Lost and stray pets picked up by City of Las Vegas, City of North Las Vegas, or Clark County Animal Control are brought to The Animal Foundation’s Lied Animal Shelter. The Animal Foundation also accepts stray and lost pets brought in by members of the community. If you have lost a pet in the City of Henderson, please contact the Henderson Animal Shelter.

Lost Pet? Visit The Animal Foundation IMMEDIATELY

If you lose your pet, visit The Animal Foundation immediately.

Our Lost & Found online database is updated regularly, however, a variety of circumstances may cause a delay in the posting of your animal’s photo or profile so it is important to visit our campus to search for your pet as soon and as often as possible.

Didn’t find your pet online or at our Las Vegas animal shelter? To increase your chances of finding your pet, register your lost animal immediately with both Finding Rover and PetHarbor.

Register Your Lost Pet Using the Finding Rover App

Finding Rover App

You can register your lost dog or cat at Finding Rover. Finding Rover is a facial recognition app that reunites lost dogs with their owners. Photos of dogs that are found or admitted to participating shelters (including The Animal Foundation) are stored in the app’s database. Every time a pet parent posts a photo of a dog they’ve lost, Finding Rover scans its database and provides possible matches and necessary contact information within seconds.

Register Your Lost Pet at PetHarbor

You’ll receive a daily email when pets fitting your animal’s description are registered as “found” by members of the community. Please continue to check the shelter daily as well.

What You Need to Know About the 72-Hour Legal Hold

Dog waiting

Lost pets brought to The Animal Foundation are under the jurisdiction of City of Las Vegas, City of North Las Vegas, or Clark County Animal Control for 72 hours, then the animals are released to The Animal Foundation for adoption.

This means lost pets are held for 72 hours, unless claimed sooner by their owners.

Owners of pets with identification will be contacted via phone and/or email. After the 72-hour hold, animals will be evaluated and may no longer be available to reclaim.

Stray cats with no identification brought to The Animal Foundation from the jurisdictions of the City of Las Vegas and Clark County are exempt from the 72-hour legal hold and may be evaluated for adoption upon intake. In most cases, community cats are also excluded from the legal hold requirement and may be evaluated immediately.

Claiming Your Lost Pet

Our Lost and Found department is open daily from 10 am - 7 pm. To claim your lost pet at our Las Vegas animal shelter, you must bring:

  • A photo of your pet

*If your pet’s rabies vaccination is not current, we will administer the vaccination and you will be charged upon departure.
