BABY GAGE

Hi, my name is BABY GAGE

Baby Gage is a lovable, toy-obsessed sweetheart who’s come a long way from a rough beginning and is ready to start a new chapter filled with love, play, and belly rubs. This boy has shown incredible resilience and is now ready to soak up all the good life has to offer—especially if it includes squeaky toys and kind words!

He walks beautifully on leash and lights up with every bit of praise—tell him he’s a good boy, and you’ll make his whole day! Baby Gage thrives on encouragement, affection, and playtime, and he's eager to find someone who’ll cheer him on as much as he’ll cheer up your life.

If you’re looking for a loyal companion who’s full of heart, ready for adventures, and happiest when he knows he’s loved—Baby Gage is your guy.

Adopt this dog and receive a scholarship for 5 weeks of free group training classes! These classes are taught by a certified trainer at the shelter. Our Bark to Basics classes cover basic obedience, manners, and leash skills. Ask an adoption counselor for details. This offer is available for this dog only. My Special Considerations

Baby Gage is not adapting well to the shelter environment and exhibiting signs of fear and kennel distress. He is very barrier reactive to and focused on dogs passing his kennel. At playgroup, he is unsure about other dogs but has been successful with proper introductions. He will require slow, proper introductions to any new dogs. He is barking, jumping, and seeking neighboring dogs in his kennel. He is nervous of new people as well but warms up with time treats, and toys. He loves to play tug and fetch with plushies. He is unsure of petting but is warming up and allowing all handling. He has made such big improvements in such a short time. He is loose bodied when handling, his reactivity is steerable and staff is able to redirect his focus with toys. He loves to play tug and has been learning his manners when playing. He is a very smart boy. He was brought to the shelter by animal control - he was found with burned paw pads and experiencing heat related illness. He is feeling better now but the time in the shelter has increased his stress and anxiety - he needs a quiet place to decompress. We would love to see him in a long term foster home to give him the quiet space to become his best self. This animal would benefit from a quieter place to adjust and become more comfortable with social and environmental changes.

UPDATE: This animal has shown improvement and is responding to interventions provided. The commitment date has been removed for now however this animal would still benefit from foster, rescue, or adoption.
