Adoption Search
Hi, my name is CODY
Meet Cody, a sweet young boy with a heart of gold, just waiting for the right family to call his own! The quickest way to Cody's heart is through treats, especially his favorite beef jerky. He might be a little shy when you first meet him, but with a bit of patience and those delicious treats, he transforms into an absolute cuddle bug who thrives on affection.
Cody walks okay on the leash and is a very friendly and loving pup. His former family noted he lived happily with older kids and a small dog, showing his adaptable nature. As always, we recommend slow and safe introductions when you're intorducing a new pet to your family at home. Our adoptions or foster teams are great at coaching you on the best way to do that!
As an owner surrender, he's now in search of a forever home that will give him the time he needs to adjust and decompress, allowing his full, affectionate personality to shine.
Come meet this loving guy today and see if you're the perfect match for Cody! If you think you need more time, ask us about our Foster Field Trip, Foster, and Foster-to-Adopt programs.
My Special Considerations
Cody is not adapting well to being in a kennel at the shelter and is displaying signs of kennel distress and anxiety. He is starting to get worked up and frustrated in his kennel and is being reactive and attempting to cage fight with neighbors. Staff members are able to break his focus for a little bit before he resumes behaviors. Cody would benefit in a quiet home to decompress for all the stress being in the shelter. He allows staff members to leash him up for walks and allows all handling. In playgroup, he is challenging with some dogs. He shows selectively: he gets along with some dogs and doesn't get along with others. In playgroup with other large dogs, he has been in smaller groups and has tolerated calm dogs. We suspect the frustration of being kenneled is effecting his behaviors observed in playgroup. We suspect with proper introductions and time to decompress he may be successful in a home with another dog. However, he will require proper, slow introductions to other dogs in order to be successful. His previous owner stated he was ok with most dogs and that he barks at dogs, cats and strangers. This animal would benefit from a calmer environment and training to be able to cope with changing environments and separation. This animal needs placement by 6/29 at 3 PM.
