Hi, my name is *TOM
Hi there, I’m Tom.
I’m a little guy with a big heart, even if I’m still learning how to show it.
Exploring the world is my favorite thing—I’ll sniff every leaf, chase sunbeams, and maybe even make a game out of finding tiny spots to hide in. But when it comes to people, I’m still really shy. Loud noises and fast movements? Yikes. I’m not quite sure what to make of humans yet.
Right now, I need a quiet, patient home where I can go at my own pace. I won’t be the dog that runs up for snuggles on day one—but if you give me time, space, and kindness, I just might surprise you. Could you be the one to help me feel safe?
My Special Considerations
Tom is not adapting well to the shelter environment and exhibiting signs of fear and kennel distress. Tom was surrendered due to causing a minor bite due to fear. Here in the shelter he seeks comfort from female staff. He doesn't seek comfort from male staff but allows petting. This animal would benefit from a quieter place to adjust and become more comfortable with social and environmental changes.
UPDATE: This animal has shown improvement and is responding to interventions provided. Tom is a very scared boy, but with slow interactions he warms up and allows all handling. The commitment date has been removed for now however this animal would still benefit from foster, rescue, or adoption.
