Hi, my name is *MARLEY
Meet Marley – Ready to Shower You with Love!
Remember when we said Marley just needed a little time? Well, she's ready to shine! This wonderful dog has blossomed into an affectionate and loyal companion. Her sweet nature is now on full display, making every moment with her a joy.
Marley is searching for a loving home where she can share all the love she has to offer. If you're looking for a devoted friend who is eager to connect, Marley is your girl. Come meet her and see the beautiful transformation – she's more than worth the wait!
Here is what Marley's foster family has to say about her!
"We’ve been calling her Harley lately, after watching the depressing movie “Marley and Me”, but honestly I think she’ll respond to any two syllable name that rhymes with “Arley” ?? We know that she’s an English Bulldog mix, and we’re thinking it’s either an American Bulldog because of her looks, or a Boxer because of her play style and energy ?? I know she’s listed as 6, but she still has SO much puppy like energy left in her that’s it’s hard to believe she’s any older than 3 or 4. She loves to play fetch, with plushies, toy ropes, or tennis balls. She also loves her naps, cuddles, and her 8pm zoomie sessions, lol. Though she’s thankfully past the true puppy stage as she’s been a breeze to train and condition!
When we first got Marley/Harley, she was definitely a jumper, but now she excitedly wiggles her butt down in front of people to sit, lol, even with new people. If you walk toward her without paying enough attention to her, she’ll scoot backward in front of you while remaining sitting down to get you to pet her. She has a whole personality that’s uniquely her ??
We’re now 99% consistent with “sit”, “lay”, and “place”(kennel/bed time) and about 90% of the way there with “stay” and “on me”(focus on me). If there’s too much going on, it’s a little harder for her to pay attention with the last two, but that’s to be expected ?? As I’ve mentioned before, she’s incredibly smart and motivated for nothing but affection. Of course she won’t say no to treats, especially cheese, lol, but they’re not needed at all to train her or to get her to redirect when needed.
Shes still great on a leash! We have a lot of kids in the neighborhood and Marley is unphased by everything. Small kids, big kids, other dogs, stray cats, squirrels, things on wheels, and even kids’ sports balls rolling past her. You name it, she doesn’t care about it if she’s out on a walk, lol.
Shes also been a lot better with our cats these last few weeks too, no more chasing! Sometimes she gets curious about them and wants to lick them or smell them, and then she’ll breath heavily on them… They don’t like that, lol, but even when they run off out of annoyance with her, she doesn’t chase them. I think she would absolutely THRIVE in a house where she’s the only one, but with a proper and slow introduction to other animals, I think she’d do amazing as well. Because she was showing some reactivity to resource guarding affection in the first couple of weeks, I’d recommend her forever home do leashed or kenneled interactions for at least the first week and go from there based on how that goes. I would hope whoever she goes to can show her a little bit of patience and grace, because she’s SO close to being the perfect dog. She WANTS to be the perfect dog. "
