Hi, my name is BEASTY
Beasty: The Gentle Soul Looking for a Soft Landing
Beasty may have a big name, but he's really a tenderhearted soul just trying to find his footing in a loud, overwhelming world. This shy husky mix is currently struggling in the shelter environment—like many sensitive pups, the confinement and chaos are tough on him. But once outside his kennel, a different Beasty starts to shine through.
Walks with Beasty are slow and steady. He’s cautious at first, easily spooked by sudden movements. But, with time and consistency, he begins to look to his person for guidance and reassurance—and perhaps even starting to come out of his shell for some affection!
Beasty recently got a much-needed break on a foster field trip, and his foster had nothing but glowing things to say. He was a true gentleman in the car, walked beautifully on leash, and proved to be a wonderful hiking buddy. He was sweet and gentle with everyone he met, and while he liked respectful kids, it’s important to set boundaries between children and dogs—especially with those dogs who are still learning to feel safe. Beasty sat politely for treats, gave out gentle kisses, and soaked up all the affection he could. He even enjoyed a well-deserved pup cup after his trip. And as a little bonus—his fur is incredibly soft!
Beasty is already neutered and ready to go home—he just needs someone patient, loving, and willing to give him the time he needs to decompress and blossom. If you’ve got a calm home and a soft heart, Beasty may just be the perfect match.
My Special Considerations
Beasty is not adapting well to the shelter environment and exhibiting signs of fear and kennel distress. He avoids staff members due to his fear but does tolerate handling when staff members shuts him off to one side of his kennel. He is fearful of the leash but will allow staff members to lasso leash him to take him out to the play yard. Once outside in a yard he really does his own thing and doesn't seek too much attention and play. He does allow all handling with a slow approach. Beasty would benefit being in a loving home to give him time to warm up and decompress from the shelter environment. This animal would benefit from a quieter place to adjust and become more comfortable with social and environmental changes.
