*SAM

Hi, my name is *SAM

I love treats, Sam I am. He would eat them in a bowl. He would eat them on a roll. He would eat them from your hand. He would eat them in the sand. He would eat them in the yard, he would eat them while standing guard. He would eat them in his sleep. He would eat them with some sheep. Sam would eat them here or there. Sam would eat treats anywhere!

But seriously, he's one smart cookie who is excellent at paying attention to his people (especially when food is involved). Sam is friendly and outgoing, and while he is especially treat motivated, he's a gentleman when it comes to accepting food. He also really loves his people and getting belly rubs, booty scratches, neck rubs....Really any kind of affection from his human friends.

He walks well on the leash and knows commands like "sit" and "paw" and has the potential to learn 100 words. Heck, he could probably learn how to drive the car to go get you some take-out!

If adopted, Sam will get a scholarship for 5 weeks of group training classes. These training classes are at the shelter and cover basic obedience, manners, and leash skills. For more information on our Bark to Basics group training classes, Click Here.

Sam is the total package and he's waiting for that special person to come foster or adopt him today!

My Special Considerations

*Sam is a friendly outgoing dog who has been at our shelter since 1/10/25. Sam is not adapting well to being in a kennel at the shelter and is displaying signs of kennel distress and anxiety. In his kennel he is calm. However, he is now showing anxious behaviors outside of the kennel including panting, pacing, constant sniffing and pulling. His eyes are blood shot. He was excelling in one on one training but has recently started to show such anxious behaviors that he is not receptive to training. Sam is a playgroup candidate but is now so anxious that he paces the yard and doesn't engage with other dogs. Sam is deteriorating in our care. This animal would benefit from a calmer environment and training to be able to cope with changing environments and separation. This animal needs placement by 4/17 at 3 PM.
