TURKEY

Hi, my name is TURKEY

Turkey definitely has quite the personality! He recently learned fetch and enjoys learning new tricks, even if it takes him a bit to understand them.

He is the biggest snuggle bug we have ever met, and thinks he is a lap dog. Turkey also does amazing well with other dogs in his foster home. He is great at walks as well.

Turkey recently had a DNA test and he's:

Australian Cattle Dog 30.6%
Siberian Husky 27.8%
American Staffordshire
Terrier 15.2%
Chow Chow 9.9%
American Pit Bull Terrier 9%
Supermutt 7.5%

My Special Considerations

Turkey is not adapting well in a kennel at the shelter and is exhibiting barrier frustration towards team members and other stimuli. In his kennel, he seeks attention and is social with most team members. However, he has shown barrier reactivity and frustration with other team members. When he is uncomfortable he growls, barks and moves forward at people outside his kennel. Out of the kennel, he walks well on leash, enjoys attention and petting, and is eager to learn. He is a great dog who needs a break from the shelter!

He has been in and out of the shelter in foster home frequently since November 2024 and he needs a permanent place to land. The frequent in and out of the shelter is becoming too much for him. He was adopted and returned after a little over 2 months. His adopted had very positive things to say about him including he is playful, energetic, and friendly. They did suggest a home with older children and he jumps on kids. He has done well in foster homes. He was reported to be neutral with cats, playful with other dogs, and a good house guest. They said "he definitely needs an outlet for all his energy to be the best boy he can be, but with daily exercise he is the perfect pup."

This animal would benefit from a calmer environment and training to be able to cope with changing environments and kenneling. Due to his poor kennel presentation, this animal needs placement by 7/1 at 3 PM.
