Geff went on a foster field trip and was amazing! Here's what his field trip foster had to say about him:
Geff went to Bass Pro Shop on his field trip, and enjoyed some fresh air and a break from the shelter. During his time outside, he got to enjoy a hamburger, and took them very gently.
He's pretty good on leash, too. He leads because he's ready to explore, but his recall was good. We walked by some pigeons, which he ignored. He also did well in the car after a while, and he even let me pick him up because he wasn't sure how to jump into my SUV.
Geff also has a playful side. He had a great time chasing a squeaky tennis ball and even managed to catch it mid-air, showing off some impressive athletic skills! He also likes the stuffed toys too!
When it comes to other dogs in play group at the shelter, it's clear that he doesn't seem to be a fan of pushy dogs and preferred doing his own thing during play group. During the field trip, though, he was a little curious about other dogs and kids seemed to intrigue him, but also spook him a little because of their fast movements. He's a bit of a shy boy and might need some time decompressing and building up his confidence.
He doesn't mind gentle brushing, which revealed how soft and healthy his coat was. We quickly discovered the way to his heart—butt scratches! Once those started, he was more than happy to stick around and enjoy the affection. And he preferred that way more than being pet on his head. He didn't show his affection right away, so you'll have to give him some time to get used to you first!
He's a really good boy. Doesn't bark, doesn't jump on anyone, greets calmly, can do stairs and walks like a pro. He seems like he'd love a hike or any kind of adventure actually! He didn't have any accidents indoors and only pottied outside.
Something to note is that I probably wouldn't leave him alone in the back yard because he did pop up on his hind legs to peak over some barriers during our walk. Not sure how he would do alone in the house as it was a same day field trip just around town. But he was happy to chill in the lobby at the store and lay down to cool off.
