The Animal Foundation Announces New Chair for Its 16th Annual Best in Show Event on Sunday, April 28

Switch executive and lifelong dog lover Missy Young to serve for the first time as Best in Show committee chair

Las Vegas’ premier dog show benefits the Valley’s lost and abandoned animals

Las Vegas – The Animal Foundation announces that Switch executive Missy Young has joined The Animal Foundation’s 2019 Best in Show as chair, in which capacity she will work to help organize the 2019 Best in Show Committee. Best in Show in is the premier fundraising and offsite dog-adoption event for The Animal Foundation, with 100% of proceeds going directly to support the many lifesaving programs at the shelter.

Young is the Chief Information Officer at technology leader Switch, where she drives the company’s solutions architecture to create fundamental and sustainable change in the way clients ultimately design and implement intelligent data strategies. As a technologist, Missy has played an imperative role in the company’s evolution from the most innovative data center company in the world to the world’s only hyperscale retail colocation ecosystem that it is today.

Said Young, “I am very excited to serve as this year’s chair for The Animal Foundation’s Best in Show event. I attended the event last year for the first time and was amazed to learn about all the important work that The Animal Foundation does to care for animals in the Las Vegas Valley. As a proud Las Vegas resident and dog lover, I am honored to help raise money that will directly fund the shelter’s variety of lifesaving programs. I’m also thrilled to help with the adoptions of some wonderful shelter animals.”

Each year during Best in Show, shelter dogs from The Animal Foundation strut their stuff on the carpet and compete in a variety of categories including small, medium, large, variety pack, puppies and special needs. Finalists are determined by a judging panel of Las Vegas media personalities. Only one pooch will be crowned “Best in Show,” but all the cuddly canine participants will be available for adoption following the event.

Christine Robinson, Chief Executive Officer for The Animal Foundation, said, “We have always acknowledged that the most successful events are the result of a perfect partnership between the unique expertise of our staff and a passionate Committee with relationships beyond those of the organization. We are thrilled to have Missy on board as part of our dedicated and committed group of community leaders who assist in those areas where they bring specific value to the effort.”

The 2019 Best in Show event will take place on Sunday, April 28, 2019, at the Thomas & Mack Center at 4505 Maryland Parkway in Las Vegas. For information on sponsorship opportunities and purchasing tickets, visit animalfoundation.com.
