‘Tis the season to give the gift of love – to yourself AND a shelter pet!
Join us for Empty the Shelters at The Animal Foundation, where all adoption fees for animals six months and older will be waived thanks to the generous support of BISSELL Pet Foundation.
When: December 1st – December 17th
Where: The Animal Foundation
This holiday season, we’re pulling out all the stops to help our furry friends find their forever homes. Every day, an average of 100 animals come through our doors, and while fall usually brings some relief to our shelter, this year has been different. Just like last year, our numbers haven’t receded, and our shelter is at critical capacity.
Whether you’re looking for a playful pup, a snuggly cat, or a quirky companion with a personality all their own, now is the perfect time to adopt. With your help, we can Empty the Shelters and give these incredible pets the second chance they deserve.

About the Adoption Process:
- Visit https://animalfoundation.com/adopt-a-pet/adoption-search to browse adoptable animals to have an idea of what you are looking for when you arrive.
- Adoptions take place on a first-come, first-served basis for walk-in traffic, beginning at 11 am each day. Depending on the volume of patrons each day, adoption services may close before 7 PM once our capacity is reached.
- When you arrive, you may browse the adoption area for a pet, or if you have an animal in mind, please note the animal ID# and you'll be able to speak with an adoption counselor.
- Please note, that patrons sometimes line up before we open to meet a pet, especially during adoption events.
- We do not place holds on pets.
- Please do not bring your current pets with you to the shelter. We do not allow in-shelter dog-to-dog introductions. The shelter is a strange and stressful place for most pets and does not provide an accurate indication of how the animals will act in a home environment. The most successful dog-to-dog introductions are properly staged outside the shelter environment. We provide step-by-step instructions on how to properly introduce your new pet to resident pet(s).
