Stevie Nicks, but Make Her a Pigeon

I have been in wildlife rescue, rehabilitation, and conservation my entire life, starting as a child with my wildlife rescuer father, and still to this very day from my own home. Pigeons hold a very special place in my heart, and when I saw a picture of this beautiful bird, I loved her instantly.

While my boyfriend, bless his heart, accepts me for all of the wild creatures in need that come into our home for care and back out into the world, I never thought we would own a pigeon. When I showed him this bird, not even asking to get her, simply just showing him, he just smiled. He asked if it would make me happy, of course I said yes. He said “you should go get your bird”. I hopped in the car immediately after a quick ugly cry to bring her home.

Every day since she’s been here, my heart has been fuller. She guards over my office, settles in sweetly when I sing her Stevie Nicks (who she is named after), and has slowly but surely been giving me her trust. In so thankful to have gotten her, to have her now, and to love her the rest of her life. Thank you Animal Foundation for my new best friend.
