The One Who Held Me Together

They say that dogs are man’s best friend, but for me, Duece has been my anchor, my shadow, and my silent therapist through the darkest chapter of my life. Following the devastating loss of my son and the sudden end of a 22-year marriage, I found myself navigating a world that felt completely unrecognizable. I was physically present but emotionally I was gone.

That is where Duece came in. He didn’t need me to explain my grief or justify my silence he just needed to be near me. Whether I was struggling to get out of bed or simply trying to make it through another day at work, his presence was the consistent, non-judgmental heartbeat that kept me grounded. We became inseparable besties for real he learned my moods before I even recognized them myself. On the days when the world felt too heavy he was the one pulling me forward reminding me with a gentle nudge or a goofy grin that there was still warmth to be found.

He helps me cope and taught me how to find joy in the simple act of a walk and how to find comfort in quiet companionship. He has seen me at my lows and has loved me through every step of way. Adopting him was the best decision I ever made we locked in 😘
