Lola: Best in Show All Stars
The Star of the Show (and She Knows It)
We had been looking at the dogs listed for adoption at the Animal Foundation, and saw a sweet girl staring back at us; sad eyes, thin from being on the streets, but undeniably capable of so much love. I knew as we drove across town that we were not leaving without her. When we met, she ran to me and stood up to hold my arm, refusing to let go. It was truly like when they say a dog chooses you as much as you choose them. She locked in at first sight and had the biggest smile as she stayed close to me for rubs and compliments.
Listed as a Kelpie, we did a DNA test and found that she is actually a Belgian Malinois/Australian Shepherd mix, in need of lots of activity and mental stimulation. I know that everyone says their kid is the smartest, but truly this girl has shown intelligence beyond any dog I have ever owned. She readily picked up on at least 20 commands, she’s very athletic, and learns your schedule only to hold it against you if don’t get your 5 walks in per day! She also insists on brushing her teeth every night, and makes sure we are heading to bed on time every night.
Lola has a big personality, and is fiercely loyal to us as her parents. She makes our lives more entertaining, active, full of love, and we are excited every day to be her parents.
