My Name Is BUTCHER!

Meet Butcher, a handsome, sweet boy who is playful, goofy, and deeply loving!

While shelter stress can be tough on pups, Butcher has shown incredible progress with the staff training team! He walked smoothly past other dog kennels in the bungalow without any reactivity and calmly enjoyed his play yard time.

This sweet boy comes with a fantastic report card! Butcher has experienced home life, having previously lived with teenagers and cats. His past family noted that he is a happy, goofy family member who gets super excited to greet loved ones when they come home. He is also designated as a house-trained potty dog at the shelter and was fully house-trained in his previous home.

Butcher is smart and obedient, knowing sit and come on cue, especially for delicious beef jerky treats! In the yard, he is a total toy and squeaker lover who enthusiastically chases squeaky toys, bouncy balls, and stuffed plushies. When playtime finishes, his gentle, affectionate side takes over as he soaks up head scratches, soft pets, and stays close by your side.

Butcher is looking for a calm home environment, foster family, or rescue team that can offer a quiet place to relax, continued training support, and a steady daily routine.

If you are looking for a goofy, smart, and deeply affectionate family boy to give a fresh start to, Butcher is ready to meet you!

If you would like to help him step out of the shelter environment, ask staff about our foster and rescue options to give Butcher a safe place to rest. Come meet Butcher today!

My Special Considerations

Butcher is not adapting well to being in a kennel at the shelter and is displaying signs of kennel distress and anxiety. Butcher, is seeking his neighbors, heavily panting, some spinning in his kennel. He is able to settle. He is very reactive when walking pass dogs in their kennel. Butcher is declining and he is causing self injury. Butcher is a super potty dog! He needs to go outside to use the restroom which could indicate that he is potty trained! This dog is working with our training team daily on leash skills, basic obedience, and good manners. This animal would benefit from a calmer environment and training to be able to cope with changing environments and separation. This animal needs placement by 10/21 by 3PM

UPDATE: This animal has shown some improvements and is beginning to respond to interventions provided. The commitment date is being extended to assess if further improvements will be made with intervention. The commitment date is being extended from 10/16 to 10/21 by 3pm
