My Name Is *CYNTHIA!
Sweet Cynthia is only a little over 1 year old, and despite having a rough start, this happy girl hasn’t let anything dim her spirit. Cynthia was adopted in January 2026 and has sadly found herself back at the shelter as a confiscate. Now, she’s searching for a family who will truly give her the love, patience, and medical care she deserves.
Cynthia currently has some skin issues that will likely require long-term management, as well as discharge from her eyes that will need veterinary attention. But don’t let that scare you away—this girl doesn’t let her medical needs slow her down one bit! She’s still full of joy, love, and she is just the sweetest girl.
Cynthia is friendly with everyone she meets. She walks great on leash and is very food motivated, which will make training both easy and fun. She’s absolutely obsessed with treats and will sit so patiently, waiting for you to hand them over. And toys? Cynthia loves them too! She’ll chase after balls and play with plushies. She’s goofy, playful, and guaranteed to make you laugh.
Just a few minutes with Cynthia in the play yard, and she’ll steal your heart. She’s silly, sweet, resilient, and so deserving of a family who will love her through it all and give her the fresh start she’s been waiting for.
Cynthia previously got to go on a foster field trip, and here's what her foster had to say:
“Cynthia is such a sweetheart. She has clearly been through a lot. She was eager to go on her field trip and readily tried to jump into the car. She did need some help and she let me lift her. She walked great on leash. In public she was confident and friendly with people. She allows petting, but likely has some sensitive spots. She would thrive in a home that can help get her skin allergies under control. Since she is young, she will need plenty of exercise, training, and love to be her best self. We passed by a dog and she was non-reactive. At the shelter she has been to playgroup and tolerates the calm crew. Slow and proper introductions are always recommended with any resident pets. I love her so much.”
My Special Considerations
Cynthia is not adapting well to being in a kennel at the shelter and is displaying signs of kennel distress and anxiety. Cynthia is demand barking at staff and panting. Cynthia was in a home and when the adopter was giving her a bath, she bit likely due to her skin sensitivity and being in pain. Because of her long term medical issues, we recommend and have started muzzle training her for vet type and invasive handling. She tolerates a well-fit basket muzzle being placed on her face (especially when treats are involved!) and is learning to become more comfortable with it. This animal would benefit from a calmer environment and training to be able to cope with changing environments and separation.
This dog has severe skin issues, which will require long-term management. She may also need long term treatment for "dry eye". She's hoping for transfer placement by 4/30 at 3pm.
