My Name Is THOR!
Thor is about five years old, and after a life that hasn’t always been kind to him, he has decided what he wants most is pretty simple:
A person of his own.
Thor is one of the gentlest, most laid-back dogs you’ll meet. His perfect day involves sleeping near your feet, belly rubs, soft head scratches, and making sure his favorite human is close by. He doesn’t need long hikes or endless exercise. A retired person, someone who works from home, or simply someone who loves having a constant companion would be his dream.
According to the shelter, Thor spent much of his previous life outdoors and was surrendered after his owner was evicted. He arrived with another dog listed as his “brother,” who sadly did not make it out of the shelter. Thor also appears to have been mistreated, so he can become anxious when the person he trusts leaves.
And yet, he is incredibly gentle.
Thor walks beautifully on a leash and is calm at farmers markets, festivals, and dog-friendly patios. He’s friendly with other dogs and seems gentle with children, although cats are a little too tempting to chase.
Our favorite thing? While walking, Thor occasionally turns and gently touches his nose to your leg, as if to say, “Just checking. You’re still there, right?”
Thor has hypothyroidism and mild hip dysplasia and takes his pills once daily. Wrap them in cheese or meat and he’ll proudly sit and take it as gently as possible.
Mostly, Thor just wants to be near you. He’ll lie at your feet, keep you company, and happily make relaxation a full-time occupation.
Thor has already learned that people can leave.
We’d really like his next lesson to be that sometimes, they stay. ??
