My Name Is *SOUR PATCH KID!

Sour Patch Kid is a gentle young soul who lives up to his name—a little shy at first, but incredibly sweet once you get to know him. He is a sensitive boy who appreciates a slow approach and a few minutes to feel secure in a new friendship. The wait is more than worth it, though; once he trusts you, he will lean his whole body against yours, ready to soak up every pet and scratch you’re willing to give.

On the leash, he is a focused and curious partner. He walks very well and remains calm and non-reactive when other dogs pass by. Sour Patch Kid is a bit of a "professional investigator," as he loves to take his time sniffing every blade of grass and exploring his surroundings with his nose. He is looking for a patient, loving home where he can continue to build his confidence at his own pace.

Because he is a shy fellow navigating a new environment, Sour Patch Kid is looking for a dedicated home that understands the importance of a patient decompression period. If you have a quiet home and a big heart, come and meet him today. Ask staff about the foster field trip and foster programs as a perfect way to let him relax and show his true personality outside of the shelter.

My Special Considerations

This pup is being spotlighted for one reason only, time. They have been overlooked in the shelter for far too long, and would love a break from the shelter environment where they can relax and just be a dog. The longer they stay in the shelter, the higher the risk of them deteriorating behaviorally and/or medically. This dog shows dog-selective behaviors, they get along well with some dogs, but not all. They may have preferences about which dogs they’re comfortable around and can sometimes struggle to be socially appropriate with certain others. With ongoing training, supervision, and proper introductions, their interactions with other dogs can continue to improve. We recommend slow, structured introductions to new dogs to ensure positive experiences. If you'd like to foster or adopt this pup, please come in to meet them!
