Misfit is a sweet, shy girl who is looking for a patient heart to help her learn to trust again. While she can be nervous and requires a slow approach, she has a gentle spirit that is waiting to blossom in the right environment.
She is currently very shy and does not yet take treats, but she is highly motivated by the sound of a squeaky toy, which is a great way to get her attention and start building a bond. Misfit truly found her confidence when it was time to head outdoors; she was very excited to leave her kennel for a walk and clearly enjoys being on the move. Walking together is a proven way to bond with a pup, and Misfit would make a wonderful partner for quiet strolls through a calm neighborhood.

My Special Considerations

Misfit is not adapting well to being in a kennel at the shelter and is displaying signs of kennel distress and anxiety. She is an energetic and fun girl, who enjoys treats and has attended playgroup. Misfit is struggling greatly in her kennel and is showing signs of kennel distress such as pacing, panting, whining, and spinning. She is struggling to focus when out of the kennel as well and could use a calm space to decompress and adjust. She is working daily with our behavior team to refine her manners and skills, and give her an additional outlet for her stress. This animal would benefit from a calmer environment and training to be able to cope with changing environments and separation. This animal needs placement by 3/22 at 3 PM.

UPDATE: This animal has shown some improvements and is beginning to respond to interventions provided. The commitment date is being extended to assess if further improvements will be made with intervention. The commitment date is being extended from (3/20) to (3/22).
