My Name Is BENJAMIN!
Meet Benjamin— a gentle soul looking for a fresh start.
Benjamin is a 2-year-old sweetheart who has been through more than a young pup should. Recently surrendered by his owner, he arrived at the shelter shy, uncertain, and a bit underweight. But even with all he’s been through, Benjamin’s gentle spirit shines brightly.
This soft, quiet boy warms up slowly, but once he trusts you, his sweetness comes through in the soft nudges, hopeful eyes, and careful tail wags he offers. He just needs a patient, loving person to help him feel safe and build his confidence again.
Benjamin would thrive in a home where he can get extra love, attention, and good meals. With kindness and consistency, he’ll blossom into the loyal companion he’s meant to be.
If you’re looking to change a life—and have yours changed in return—Benjamin is ready to start his new chapter with you. He's available for foster or adoption!

My Special Considerations
Benjamin is not adapting well to being in a kennel at the shelter and is displaying signs of kennel distress and anxiety. Benjamin was surrendered to us with a history or resource guarding food. He did passed the food test that was performed here at the shelter. He was then adopted and then returned due to chasing cats. Since then, he has been adopted and returned due to anxious behaviors in the home such as chewing through a wall and growling at children in the home. Staff has been able to handle with no issues and he has done well with other dogs in our everyday playgroup. He is also starting to become anxious in his kennel, fecal tracking, frustrated, restless, and kennel smearing. He needs out of the shelter to be able to decompress. In interventions he is smart, attentive, loves treats and toys and a fast learner. This animal would benefit from a calmer environment and training to be able to cope with changing environments and separation.
UPDATE: This animal has shown some improvements and is beginning to respond to interventions provided. The commitment date has been removed but dog would still benefit from a break from the shelter.
