My Name Is BIG MOMMA!

Meet Big Momma!

There’s something incredibly special about Big Momma. When you first meet her, you might notice her tucked tail and worried eyes — a sign of just how overwhelmed she feels in the shelter environment. It’s heartbreaking to see such a gentle soul so scared. But the moment you spend even a little time with her, you start to see the magic beneath the fear.

When we went for a walk together, she slowly began to relax, step by step. Then I pulled out a ball — and everything changed. Her eyes lit up, her whole face softened, and suddenly, there it was: pure, unfiltered joy. She sat politely, tail wagging, ready to play. The first throw, she chased it with enthusiasm, proudly brought it back, and dropped it at my feet, ready for the next round. We spent the rest of our time playing fetch, her tail wagging nonstop, her goofy smile returning with every toss.

Afterward, she happily drank from the hose, showing none of the fear she had at the start of our walk. It was so nice to see her true personality emerge — all she needed was a little time, patience, and something to bring her joy.

Big Momma is such a sweetheart with so much love and potential waiting to shine. She already knows “sit,” loves to play, and would thrive in a loving home where she can feel safe and happy.

My Special Considerations

Big Momma has been at the shelter since August 30th, 2025, and she’s ready to find a loving home of her own! Big Momma is not adapting well to being in a kennel at the shelter and is displaying signs of kennel distress and anxiety. She is panting, barking, and pawing at the kennel door. She is smart and sweet. She is growing more anxious in her kennel despite interventions. She loves to play with toys, and is very social with staff members. This animal would benefit from a calmer environment and training to be able to cope with changing environments and separation. This dog is working with our training team daily on leash skills, basic obedience, and good manners.
