My Name Is REX!
Meet Rex!
Rex is a big lovebug who just wants to shower you with affection. Sweet in spirit, he has a playful side too—he absolutely loves playing with plush toys (and isn’t afraid to “destroy” them in the process!). Calm and happy at home, Rex enjoys spending quality time with his people and gets along well with other dogs.
Rex is strong and observant, so walks are best with a lead around your waist for extra control. He’s also a quick learner—teach him something just a few times, and he’s got it! With a bit of guidance and time, Rex will become the perfect companion, bringing joy, laughter, and love into your home.
My Special Considerations
Rex is exhibiting signs of arousal and anxiety in the shelter environment and is having a hard time adapting. He has shown some challenging behaviors with other dogs in playgroup including chasing and pinning dogs. He has now challenged and pinned two dogs on two separate occasions. This can be normal for his age and breed and therefore he needs an experienced handler with breed knowledge. He does not benefit from coming to playgroup with other dogs. He has had some positive experiences with dogs outside of the shelter but we have limited information about these interactions. Rex will require slow, proper introductions to any new dogs and he would likely do best with calmer dogs. This animal would benefit from an environment with less stimulation and some training to help them cope with over arousing stimuli and anxiety. Due to his behavior with other dogs observed in the shelter, we are urgently seeking placement for him outside of the shelter; this animal needs placement by 8/7 at 3 PM.
