My Name Is NIKITA!

Nikita is the kind of dog who reminds you that trust is one of the most beautiful gifts. During her time in a wonderful foster home, she made remarkable strides in confidence, comfort, and connection with people. Watching her come out of her shell has been nothing short of inspiring.

While she may take a little time to settle into new environments, Nikita has shown that with patience, kindness, and consistency, she blossoms into a loving and loyal companion. One of her foster family's favorite moments was seeing her play fetch for the very first time—a huge milestone that perfectly captured her growing confidence.

Nikita is potty trained, settles well on her own, and enjoys enrichment toys that keep her mind engaged. She has a great appetite and is currently working on gaining a little weight to help her feel her best. She also has experience receiving eye drops and has learned to accept them calmly with positive reinforcement and treats.

This smart girl already knows several commands, including sit, shake, lay down, and come, and she's making great progress with stay. She responds well to "settle" and seems to understand everyday phrases like "I'll be back." In familiar environments, she is a wonderful walking companion and enjoys spending time exploring alongside her people.

Nikita met both small and large dogs during her time in a foster home, and she has consistently shown polite, respectful social skills. She appears to do best with gentle canine companions who match her calm and thoughtful nature.

One of the most rewarding parts of Nikita's journey has been watching her confidence grow. Early on, she preferred to stay tucked away in the back of her kennel at the shelter. Today, she's often found relaxing near the front, greeting potential adoters with a soft smile and relaxed body language—a testament to just how far she has come.

Nikita is looking for a loving home that will continue to nurture her confidence and celebrate her progress.

My Special Considerations

This sweet girl came to the shelter with abnormal tissue on her left eye, it does not seem to be bother her and appears comfortable but she would benefit from follow up at a full service vet +/-veterinary ophthalmologist to determine best next steps in treatment.
