My Name Is *CYNTHIA!
Meet Cynthia - an awesome girl!
She's silly, sweet, and everything you're looking for! This girl will play with toys all by herself, tossing them in the air, pouncing and then crawling around with them in her mouth. It's a sight to see! She's a smart cookie, too. Cynthia listens well when you have treats, and her whole body wiggles when you praise her. You can tell she just wants to make you smile, or laugh uncontrollably. Either way, she's happy.
Cynthia recently got to go on a foster field trip, and here's what her foster had to say:
“Cynthia is such a sweetheart. She has clearly been through a lot. She was eager to go on her field trip and readily tried to jump into the car. She did need some help and she let me lift her. She walked great on leash. In public she was confident and friendly with people. She allows petting, but likely has some sensitive spots. She would thrive in a home that can help get her skin allergies under control. Since she is young, she will need plenty of exercise, training, and love to be her best self. We passed by a dog and she was non-reactive. At the shelter she has been to playgroup and tolerates the calm crew. Slow and proper introductions are always recommended with any resident pets. I love her so much.”
If you’re ready to give Cynthia the loving home she deserves, come meet her today! Not quite ready? Ask about our foster field trip, foster, and foster-to-adopt programs.
My Special Considerations
Cynthia is not adapting well to being in a kennel at the shelter and is displaying signs of kennel distress and anxiety. Cynthia is demand barking at staff and panting. Cynthia was in a home and when the adopter was giving her a bath, she bit likely due to her skin sensitivity and being in pain. Because of her long term medical issues, we recommend and have started muzzle training her for vet type and invasive handling. She tolerates a well-fit basket muzzle being placed on her face (especially when treats are involved!) and is learning to become more comfortable with it. This animal would benefit from a calmer environment and training to be able to cope with changing environments and separation.
This dog has severe skin issues, which will require long-term management. She is also being treated for ocular discharge possibly secondary to conjunctivitis at this time, but would likely benefit from a more thorough ophthalmic assessment if not improving.
