My Name Is ATLAS!

Atlas is a big, lovable teddy bear of a dog with an even bigger heart. This older gentleman (9 years old) walks well on leash and would be perfectly content with shorter daily strolls around the neighborhood, followed by plenty of time relaxing and playing with his people. He truly radiates happiness—spending time with him will almost guarantee a lot of smiles and laughs.

Despite his size (130 lbs!), Atlas has the silliest, goofiest side. He happily gallops after toys and balls, loves rolling onto his back and flopping around, and will wiggle from side to side in pure joy. One of his favorite moments? Dunking his entire head into a bucket of water and then running around the play yard like a kid who just discovered puddles.

Atlas came to the shelter as an owner surrender after 6 years in a home, which is heartbreaking once you meet him. His previous family shared that he’s loyal, loves attention, and is already housebroken—he even knows how to use a doggy door.

Atlas is already neutered and can go home with you today. If you’re looking for a joyful, affectionate companion who feels like a warm hug in dog form, Atlas may be your perfect match.

My Special Considerations

Atlas is a geriatric cane corso who is being medically managed for degenerative joint disease in his hips and right knee (radiographs available for review). He would benefit from transfer to a paw partner for further care.

This dog shows dog-selective behaviors, they get along well with some dogs, but not all. They may have preferences about which dogs they’re comfortable around and can sometimes struggle to be socially appropriate with certain others. With ongoing training, supervision, and proper introductions, their interactions with other dogs can continue to improve. We recommend slow, structured introductions to new dogs to ensure positive experiences.
