Hi, my name is TORO
Meet Toro, a handsome boy who boasts a stunning coat of rich colors that make him truly one-of-a-kind. Despite his striking appearance, Toro is a timid and sensitive pup who thrives on love and affection.
Toro's shy demeanor means he can be a bit anxious in new situations, but don't let that fool you - give him some sweet talk and gentle encouragement and you'll see his true personality shine through.
He wants to be by your side soaking up the warmth of companionship and feeling safe in your presence.
His eagerness to please is evident in the way he leans in for cuddles and follows you around.
If you're seeking a furry friend who will cherish every moment spent together, Toro is the perfect match for you!
I am currently at the shelter and have been available since 9/18, but I did leave the shelter with a foster family and had a great time! I'm looking for a forever family with a space in their hearts and home. Here's what my foster family had to say about my time in foster care!
"You have to meet Toro! This 1 year old beauty was brought into the Animal Foundation as a stray. We took him on a “foster field trip” today and he did amazing!! While he is very skittish, he warmed up to us quickly rolling on his back for belly rubs. We walked for 3 hours (at a couple of different parks) with lots and lots and lots of stops for smelling! He walked by big and small dogs and had no reaction. He walked side by side with pigeons and minded his own business! He saw men and women on his walk and one man wanted to meet him. Toro came close to us as he was unsure but after a few minutes of talking he went up to the man and got some pets! He did wonderful in the car and liked to look out the window and even lay down for some of the ride. He didn’t bark and took treats very gently. He was not very food motivated just wanted to smell ALL the smells!! And we let him! He will pull slightly when he wants to smell but every time I said “come” he listened like a gentleman! He will truly make an incredible best friend! He will need a quieter household so he can relax and learn he doesn’t have to be scared! He has so much potential to be an outgoing go lucky dog! He just needs to get out of the shelter life and into someone’s home and bed!"
My Special Considerations
Toro is not adapting well to the shelter environment and exhibiting signs of fear and kennel distress. Toro is fecal tracking and jumping in his kennel. He is a current playgroup candidate and can be defensive with other dogs but with proper, slow introductions we believe he will be successful in a home with other dogs. This animal would benefit from a quieter place to adjust and become more comfortable with social and environmental changes.
