My Name Is *MARCUS!

Meet Marcus, the quiet sweetheart with a gentle soul and surprisingly elite wrestling skills. Marcus may be a little shy at first, but once he warms up, he’s all soft eyes, wagging tails, and happy little zoomies. Shelter life has him still figuring things out, so he appreciates people who understand that sometimes the best friendships start slow.



Marcus is incredibly polite when meeting other dogs and greets everyone like a tiny gentleman at a formal event. Don’t let the shy act fool you though when playtime starts, this boy can GO. One minute he’s standing quietly beside you, the next he’s in full-speed play mode having the time of his life.



Easy to love, and highly motivated by cheese and baby talk. Seriously, tell him he’s a handsome little baby boy in a silly voice and watch him completely melt. Marcus is the kind of dog who just wants someone patient, kind, and willing to let him come out of his shell at his own pace. Underneath the shyness is a really sweet, playful boy who’s trying his best and deserves a soft place to land.

My Special Considerations

Marcus is noted to have an enlarged esophagus on x-rays. He should be fed in an elevated position and would benefit from continued diagnostics to evaluate if this is genetic for him or if there is an underlying treatable disorder. He's hoping for transfer placement by 6/11 at 3pm.

Marcus is not adapting well to the shelter environment and exhibiting signs of fear and kennel distress. Marcus was terrified and not leash trained when he arrived, but with time, patience and training he has improved greatly. He is still nervous of new people, but he really opens up at shelter playgroup and show silly puppy play with other dogs. This animal would benefit from a quieter place to adjust and become more comfortable with social and environmental changes.
