My Name Is PITTSBURGH!
Pittsburgh is a strong and athletic boy who is ready to find his teammate for life! This handsome guy is a confirmed "potty dog," meaning he is likely house-trained and ready to transition smoothly into a home.
Pittsburgh is an absolute pro when it comes to treats. Not only does he love them, but he is a talented athlete who loves to catch them right out of the air! When it comes to walks, he is a great companion; he walks well on a leash and even handles a faster pace with ease. If you decide to go for a jog, he will happily run slightly ahead of you without pulling, showing off his strength and coordination.
While he hasn't shown that he knows any formal commands just yet, he is very attentive and motivated by food, which is a perfect combination for future training sessions. When the mood strikes him, Pittsburgh also loves a good game of fetch—just be sure to have two balls ready to keep the game going!
If you think you have the time and patience for an active boy and are the perfect home for Pittsburgh, then come and meet him today. If you think you need more time to decide, ask staff about the foster field trip and foster programs. It is a great way to give Pittsburgh a break from the shelter and a chance for you to get to know him in a home setting.
Pittsburgh recently got to enjoy a foster field trip, and he showed everyone what a sweet, easygoing boy he really is once he has a chance to relax outside of the shelter environment. He even met up with another shelter pup for a pack walk and did great alongside his canine companion!
His field trip handler shared that Pittsburgh is truly a laid back, affectionate dog who just needs a little time to decompress and settle in. He was a bit anxious during the car ride, but once he got comfortable, he walked beautifully on leash and enjoyed spending time out and about.
Pittsburgh seems like the kind of dog who will blossom in a calm home where he can finally exhale, settle into a routine, and enjoy life with his people.
To help Pittsburgh settle into your home, we've packed a special Pup Starter Kit! This kit includes a crate, leash, collar, harness, treats, a slow feeder, and a scholarship for our 5-week ""Bark to Basics"" group training classes. These free classes cover essential skills like basic obedience and manners to help you start off on the right paw together.

My Special Considerations
This pup is being spotlighted for one reason only, time. They have been overlooked in the shelter for far too long, and would love a break from the shelter environment where they can relax and just be a dog. The longer they stay in the shelter, the higher the risk of them deteriorating behaviorally and/or medically. If you'd like to foster or adopt this pup, please come in to meet them!
