Hi, my name is HARLEY
The name's Harley.
I'm such a sweet and gentle soul, everyone falls in love with me right away. I know a bunch of commands, and shake hands at the drop of a hat. I have no trouble entertaining myself with a ball, toy, or whatever else is around. I'll toss the toy up in the air for myself over and over again, it's my favorite thing!
I walk nicely on a leash and some of the staff have even used me as a training dog to help teach new volunteers how to walk dogs. I take treats gently and love to go on little adventures. I would do best in a home without cats, I'm just not so sure about them. I've gotten along with other pups during playgroup at the shelter, but I would benefit from slow introductions to other pups.
Stop by the shelter to see me today! I promise you'll fall in love.
My Special Considerations
Harley is exhibiting signs of arousal and anxiety in the shelter environment and is having a hard time adapting. His previous owner stated he knows commands: sit, stay, high-five, shake. He is potty trained. He loves to cuddle at night. He does not like small dogs and will chase cats. He is recommended for a home with no small animals including cats and small dogs. He came to playgroup at the shelter and ignored other large dogs. He was not interested in play and did his own thing. This animal would benefit from an environment with less stimulation and some training to help them cope with over arousing stimuli and anxiety.
Addendum: This friend was found to be coughing. Respiratory PCR was negative for all pathogens and chest x-rays showed a generalized mild bronchial pattern, which could be indicative of chronic bronchitis or age-related airway changes. They would benefit from managment and supportive care outside of the stressful shelter environment.
