Grant will fund program that keeps people and pets together in times of hardship
Las Vegas –The Animal Foundation received a grant for $10,000 from PetSmart Charities, the leading funder of animal welfare in North America, to keep pets at home and out of the shelter by providing operational support and direct program funding for its Keeping Every Person and Pet Together (KEPPT) program. Thanks to this generous grant, The Animal Foundation will continue to provide assistance to people who need temporary help with basic needs for their pets, whether through the delivery of basic veterinary care, short-term boarding or pet food assistance.
“At The Animal Foundation, we understand that pet owners can sometimes face challenges such as pet behavior issues, a housing crisis or general financial difficulties,” said Daniel Neel, Chief Finance and Development Officer for The Animal Foundation. “When faced with the inability to feed, vaccinate, or spay/neuter their pet, many people will consider surrender. Thanks to the KEPPT program, we can provide assistance to people who face basic challenges in the care of their pets.”
“Grants from PetSmart Charities are making pet care services more accessible and affordable for pet parents in need of a temporary lifeline,” said Jenny Aho, Regional Relationship Manager at PetSmart Charities. “Together with The Animal Foundation, we hope to reduce the number of owner surrenders and help find solutions so that pets can stay with their owners and avoid entering the shelter.”
Operating as the Nevada’s largest open-admission animal shelter, The Animal Foundation provides refuge and healthcare for thousands of helpless animals annually. The Keeping Every Person and Pet Together (KEPPT) program was launched by The Animal Foundation in early 2017 as the shelter’s owner-surrender intervention program.
The Animal Foundation is open daily from 11 a.m. – 7 p.m. For more information and to view adoptable pets, please visit animalfoundation.com.
