Las Vegas – On Feb. 17, The Animal Foundation, which operates Nevada’s largest open-admission animal shelter, will celebrate the grand re-opening of the PetSmart Charities Everyday Adoption Center inside PetSmart Henderson store at 286 West Lake Mead Parkway. PetSmart Charities, the leading funder of animal welfare in North America, donated more than $100,000 to The Animal Foundation to help finance staffing needs, purchase crucial supplies and assist with operational costs for the adoption center. The funding support is expected to contribute to multiple years of operation.
“By receiving this necessary grant, we are now able to expand our philanthropic services to Henderson and ultimately heighten community awareness about animal adoption,” said Daniel Neel, Chief Finance and Development Officer of The Animal Foundation. “We are thrilled to announce our partnership with PetSmart Charities to perpetuate our mutual mission of saving countless animals.”
“At PetSmart Charities, our mission is to find lifelong, loving forever homes for all pets and we do this with the help of local animal welfare organizations like The Animal Foundation who are just as passionate as we are about helping pets in need,” said David Haworth, DVM, Ph.D., and the president of PetSmart Charities. “With the help of this grant, we look forward to seeing this adoption partner continue their lifesaving work at the PetSmart Charities Everyday Adoption Center and seeing the tremendous impact that they have here in the Las Vegas-Henderson community.”
As a large non-profit organization, last year The Animal Foundation provided shelter for almost 30,000 abused, surrendered and lost animals. To help create a more humane community and meet their goal of saving the lives of all healthy and treatable animals in their care, The Animal Foundation and PetSmart Charities have joined forces to re-home hundreds of animals throughout the Las Vegas Valley.
To celebrate the PetSmart Charities Everyday Adoption Center opening, The Animal Foundation and PetSmart Charities will be presented with Las Vegas’ largest dog treat created by The Cookie Zoo, to commemorate the occasion. Additionally, this celebration will kick off PetSmart Charities’ National Adoption Weekend, Feb. 17-19, where tens of thousands of homeless pets have found their forever homes via the 1,500-plus PetSmart stores across North America. Throughout National Adoption Weekend, all dogs six months and older will be available for adoption at a discounted re-homing fee of $50.
Beginning Friday, Feb. 17, PetSmart Charities Everyday Adoption Center will be open daily from 11 a.m. – 7 p.m. For more information and to view adoptable pets, please visit animalfoundation.com.
