Roxy’s Happy Home

roxyRoxy found her forever home on December 7, 2015. Misty, one of our pawsome volunteers, was bringing a dog bed and blanket to Roxy’s kennel when she noticed the sweet pooch was very shy and frightened.

Misty felt a connection with Roxy, and knew right away that she wanted to help her overcome her fears and help her find a forever home. Misty fostered Roxy for nearly a month, and by showering her with love and attention she was able gain her trust and help her come out of her shell.

After Roxy started showing some improvement, Misty began searching for a family to adopt her. It was a bittersweet moment for Misty when Roxy was welcomed into her new home, but she knew that she would always be her foster mom and was thankful that she could help her have a better life.

However, after just one night, Roxy’s new family could tell something was wrong. Roxy refused to eat, and waited patiently by the door for her best friend Misty to return.

The concerned family suggested that Misty take Roxy back, and without hesitation she agreed. When Misty brought Roxy home, the dog cried with excitement and ran in circles as she wagged her tail. Roxy said:

“That’s when I knew we had fallen in love with each other. I decided to adopt her and avoid any more traumatic experiences for her. It has been one year, and she fits right in with our family and other dogs. She is so smart, loving and a joy to have. She experienced her first Easter egg hunt, Christmas, birthday and many more things. When I look at her my heart melts with love and happiness. She is our family member and she is very spoiled. She even sleeps in our bed! She reminds me every day how thankful she is with her love and loyalty. She is by my side every minute she can, and follows me everywhere. I’m not sure who got lucky, her or us?”

Excuse us while we grab some tissues! We are so happy that Roxy found such an amazing best friend. Thank you Misty for volunteering, opening your home to an animal in need, and giving Roxy a forever home! Misty is what we call a “foster failure” at The Animal Foundation (a foster volunteer that ends up adopting the animal in their care), and proud of it!
